The main event will be both fighters’ second chance to get a shot at the middleweight championship. Marvin Vettori aka “The Italian Dream,” lost to Adesanya in June of 2021 and missed the shot at a title match. Similarly, the American explosive Jared Cannonier lost to Adesanya last year in July and missed the shot. So, both fighters will be geared to make use of this opportunity for a title match in the future.

Marvin Vettori is the #4 rated middleweight in the world, with a career record of 19-6-1 (2 KOs, 9 Subs). Vettori had previously earned a championship qualification match after a victory run of five matches but he suffered a split decision loss to Adesanya, missing out on the opportunity. Since then, his record is 2 wins and a loss. He would definitely want to make full use of this chance he has got.
Vettori’s rock-solid chin makes him extremely difficult to beat. Because “The Italian Dream” does not fear being knocked out, he can go right in his opponent’s grill and ruin their night. He may have missed out on championships previously, but he is very capable of standing tall in this bout.
Standing against him is Jared Cannonier, the third-ranked middleweight, with a professional record of 16-6 (10 KOs, 2 submissions). Cannonier moved down from light-heavyweight to middleweight in 2018, and it has paid off for his career. After scoring consecutive wins over opponents in middleweight, he lost to Adesanya missing a title shot in 2022. Since then, he has a record of 1-0.
Cannonier is an experienced and well-rounded fighter, but he does not always excel in one area, which might cost him Saturday. He’s not a particularly aggressive puncher. We feel that he might not be good enough against Vettori’s aggressiveness.
The fight will last over 20 minutes. Cannonier will try his best to compete against Vettori but may fall short of Vettori’s young age, aggressiveness, and solid body.
